Bob & Michael's Place

This project was developed for the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation with the participation of all three levels of government over a 13-year period, from initial concept to occupancy. Located in the heart of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, it provides much-needed affordable housing in an area that has historically struggled to attract renewal and long-term residents.

 

The building includes three storeys of commercial space, featuring a medical clinic operated by Vancouver Coastal Health, and seven storeys of assisted housing. The project also incorporates a public art program, with original works by renowned local artists installed throughout the common areas, as well as custom-designed safety surfacing for the fourth-floor outdoor children’s play area.
