Chinese Consulate
A new Consular building and assembly hall located in Vancouver’s toney Shaughnessy neighborhood. The program includes office space, ceremonial gathering spaces for consular functions, an multipurpose assembly space and formal gardens. The new building is attached to an existing heritage residence in which the Consul General resides and is organized around a formal garden meant to unify the compound. The building design responds to the residential character of the leafy Shaughnessy neighborhood being sensitive to scale, materials and architectural language, yet distinctly memorable as a functioning Consulate.
